About Spencer...

Dive into the world of Spencer Oppermann where the energy of his charismatic performances meets the heartfelt vibes of his unique sound. A twenty year-old, hailing from Gaylord, Michigan, Spencer was raised to be an outdoorsman, spending much of his time hunting, fishing and horseback riding. He was also a high school athlete, earning various awards for ski racing, football and track. Spencer, always up for a new challenge, bought his first guitar at age twelve. He began practicing guitar shortly after, but didn't add vocals until he was about seventeen. His turning point, when he knew he wanted to be a musician, was the moment he formed a band in middle school and played at their school dance. The electricity he felt from entertaining his peers and inspiring them to have a good time, sparked a flame that is burning strong.

He stuck to playing guitar until his freshman year of high school when he learned the lyrics to "Can't Help Falling In Love". One day, he mustered up the nerve to bring his guitar to school and sing this song to a girl in class. Unfortunately, the song didn't get him a date, but it did give him the confidence and propensity to not fear rejection. That was the only song he learned to sing for the new few years. Instead, he honed his guitar playing skills. Having parents who introduced him to various genres encompassing multiples decades, led him to an appreciation of the artistry behind the music. As he matured, Spencer's desire for creativity and growth inspired him to add vocals to his repetoire.

With a country sound infused with elements of southern rock, Spencer stands out from many of the modern country artists. Many describe him as an old-country soul with a classic rock twist. His songwriting is a combination of heartfelt, adult experiences combined with a young perspective that is able to captivate multiple generations of listeners. Spencer draws inspiration from various artists including Elvis Presley, Gordon Lightfoot, Blackberry Smoke, Def Leppard, Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson, Ted Nugent and Riley Green. Having a broad spectrum of influences, inspires him to create an original sound that is new and refreshing to listeners.

Although Spencer has been a full time recording/live musician for a little over two years, he has several notable accomplishments. He has gained significant knowledge from songwriting to recording from artist, producer, and Takamine endorsee, Jake Allen. Jake has helped shape Spencer’s sound by teaching him how to write lyrics, incorporating catchy melodies and tight musical layers. On Spotify alone, in his first year, Spencer obtained 11,800 streams from one hundred and six countries, with a total of 650 hours of listening time and topping out at 5,800 monthly listeners. He was able to organically grow his business from zero released singles to six in just one year and playing a minimum of 2-3 shows per week. He has increased his social media engagement rate by as much as 227% in just over a year! His most notable accomplishment was opening an event for Nashville artists Sadie Bass and Jason Cross. Spencer not only opened, but was asked to join them on stage for several songs.

Throughout his journey, Spencer has encountered multiple challenges. The biggest one was deciding between a full-ride scholarship to play college football and being a full-time musician. Athletics was always familiar territory for him, but Spencer decided that stepping outside of his comfort zone and exploring the unknown was the best way to grow. Using the work ethic he learned from being a four-sport athlete and a two-sport team captain, he pursued music with determination, resilience and grit. He finds the valleys of being a musician, such as late nights, giving up weekend plans, endless practice and self-doubt do not overshadow the peaks of perfecting a song and hearing the crowd sing along, or touching someone so deeply that it brings a tear to their eye.

Fans can look forward to an exciting future with Spencer. He is releasing a new single titled, “Put Some Rock in That Country”, on January 26th of this year. This single takes a peak inside a rock and roll dive bar where a country band is trying to win over the crowd. This energetic and unique track continues to display Spencer’s versatility, growth and talent.
